"I want my audiences, large or not so large, to feel they've had a visit with me," Charley says. "I want them to enjoy my music and my band, have a few laughs with me, and come away feeling that we've met and are now friends." Charley is one of those entertainers who knows how to fit smoothly into a great variety of performance situations. He understands how to structure his act with his audiences in mind, and he's an expert at erasing distance between stage and audience to make real contact with those he entertains. Here Charley (left) is seen with old friend Tex Schutz (right) and another musician playing Lone Star-style bluegrass at the South Texas Music Festival. Just a few minutes after this bluegrass set was over, Charley was surprising and delighting the crowd with a straightahead jazz guitar arrangement of Duke Ellington's Don't Get Around Much Anymore! |

| Charley is energetic and totally at ease onstage. Solo or with a band (as he prefers to perform), he's successful in folk, country, bluegrass, jazz, swing, and other events. He plays concert halls, festivals, clubs, coffeehouses, music pubs, bookstores, fairs, corporate events, private parties, and special situations of all kinds with equal ability. As he sings, plays with prowess that puts him firmly into the real "hot hand" class, and regales the crowds with his humorous stories, Charley makes friends wherever he goes and he adds strong value to any show in which he's booked. A very knowledgeable musician, he also is able to provide high-quality workshops in a wide range of musical subjects. | ||||
| Charley grew up in rural surroundings, in a family environment and economic circumstances that taught him to work hard and enjoy it immensely. His mother used to say he was the busiest child she'd ever known, and he has continued to live a full and busy life. Charley's exposure to and acceptance of a very wide range of musical styles began in those early days. Here he is seen (and this really is Charley) hard at it on the farm, carrying milking buckets. The "music man" may not have quite as much energy as he had when this picture was taken--but Charley loves to play and lives to play his music. He is a genial man, keeps a positive attitude, and is always ready to see how a project can be done and not why it cannot be done. He's creative, resourceful, adaptable, and organized. If you have a project in mind, don't hesitate to contact Charley. He will always be interested in talking about how something might be accomplished. There is nowhere in the world he will not consider travelling for music, and he is ever ready to consider all sorts of ways to make the trips possible. |

I've been involved in producing many concerts over the years, both here in southern California and elsewhere. Honestly can't remember any work with entertainers that went more smoothly than our work with Charley Groth. He and his group were just great, in every way. Real professionals. Highly recommended! Rebecca Stowt, concert producer, San Diego, California |

In addition to the annual music camps he produces, Charley offers a number of seminars in a variety of musical subjects: instrument playing, music reading and theory, arranging, playing in a group, and more. Most seminars are 3-4 hours or less in length, and can be held in association with performing dates or separately. Contact Charley for details. |

This is the front porch of Charley Groth's home, in a quiet old neighborhood in Largo, Florida. You don't have to go there to get in touch with him. Charley loves his home, but he's on the music road so much he isn't able to spend much time there. | |||

I have had the pleasure of working with Charley Groth and his musical group when they appeared at Borders Book Store... In Charley, I found high quality entertainment that had our customers asking when they would return to play in the store again! I found Charley to be the consummate professional in every way. He was easy to work with and supplied me with everything I needed. Charley's music has quite a following. Jeannine Mallory, Borders Books, Florida |

Here's Charley seen sitting in his on-the-road
office...or maybe that's the living room. There's a rug...
Charley loves to camp and to hang around festival campfires jamming all night, so a nice little tent in a performer's campground often suits him fine. Not, he wants you to know, that he will turn down a comfy motel room with a shower, or an offer to stay in someone's home while in the area. "I met some really interesting people one year who put us up while at the San Diego Folk Festival," he recalls. "I stayed in touch with them for years! Bob Everhart's parents and I hit it off really well, too, when I first played Bob's National Traditional Country Music Festival. They're gone now, and I miss them. The Border Folk Festival in El Paso used to just rent a couple of floors of a big downtown hotel, and that was quite a jam-fest after the festival closed in the evenings!" |

| It was wonderful to meet you and for us to be the beneficiaries of your great music. My only regret is that I was too busy to really sit and enjoy it. Many people came up to me to tell me how much they enjoyed the music. Mary Poole, Events Coordinator, University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. |
| For Charley the music never really stops, and the music road never ends. Here he is shown in the remote mountains of central Europe, discovering an advertisement for one of his shows on a crossroads signboard! Charley is ready to book performances worldwide at any time.
